Dusty, tired rooms in need of renovation. Very slow service in restaurant. Spa overun with children. Too expensive for what you actually get.
The old features The little lounges The location The spa
All through my stay the service was excellent. I entertained customer in the evening. The reaturant dinner, the service and the facilities was truly excellent. Thank you so much!
The spa area and treatments were good. Management and staff were helpful and polite. Breakfast good. Bed comfortable
The standard room which was the only one available was very small with very little storage and wardrobe space. It was not possible to see inside the wardrobe without a torch. The room was accessed along narrow corridoors and stairs. In the event of an emergence evacuation would be difficult. A very restricted dinner menu so difficult to choose a meal that I could eat and I am not fussy, all seemed to be accompanied by horseradish sauce etc !! I not have a sweet as I did not like and when I asked if I could have just one thing was told that the chef said no instead of perhaps a discussion on what I could have had. The service was very Very small amounts and no real vegetables, just protein and eg pea puree. When we booked out and I questioned these things I was told I should have said I had special dietary needs but my point was I did not, I eat most things but did not like he rich things they put with. Certainly not value for money
Clean, warm and relaxing and feeling of comfort.
The fact that to have a twin room one has to pay for the luxury doulble.
It was a wonderful experience in a gorgeous setting and lived every minute
We loved the way it took on such an old feel. The doors are so appealing, small & old. The fire in the bedoom. Wish it had been colder to light it. The freedom of moving around the hotel and finding nooks & cranies to have a cup of something. We were given a half bottle of wine for my husbands 50th. Very nice.
No one to meet us & show us to our seat at breakfast we were left to wonder & help ourselves to cereal & sit. Half way through our cereal someone came & asked us what we liked to drink. Not very good really.
The Room The Spa
The use of the kilt in Littlehampton by a French waiter
Warm outdoor pool and comfortable loungers placed in a sunny sheltered spot. Pleasant staff Quiet location Comfortable bed with sheets and woollen blankets
No bar and a long wait to be able to order a drink before dinner. Position of swing ball equipment was rather near the bedroom and could, bearing in mind the extent of the gardens, have been situated elsewhere.
Lovely, friendly atmosphere. It is slightly quirky, an unusual feeling of luxury without being formal or pretentious. Expensive but worth every penny .superb spa area.
The way the medieval buildings and grounds have been converted beautifully to create the most relaxing ambience . Love the faded elegance, the intimate spaces , the informality and the terrific staff. Food superb in every way...a real find for us. The sheer variety of things to do around the hotel is excellent.
Hard call ...my wife at a push felt the ladies changing room could be bigger given the numbers using it between 5 and 6 in the evening.
Very relaxing friendly and helpful staff nice food Spa was very good especially the outside swimming pool when we swam in the pouring rain very good pub 10 minutes walk away with a good evening menu good walks along the beach to bognor and Littlehampton
we didn't get offered ketchup with breakfast!
Excellent food and service with changing daily dinner menu.. Catering Manager very pleasant. Character furnishings. "A bit different in a nice way." Very clean. Well maintained grounds and a long, impressive driveway to hotel buildings. Adequate parking. Room had good towels, dressing gown, toiletries and shower, excellent lighting, and pleasant view over lawn and field. Inclusion of daily newspaper. Well behaved children !!.
Small "Classic Double" Langmeade room with no space for a wardrobe which was a tandem cupboard with hanging rail in bathroom. 4'6" Bed with mattress that I found fairly hard although it did not bother my husband. We were half board, but had we been B&B and paid £250 per night, I would have considered we were overcharged for a room of this size. To be fair when we mentioned this to the Catering Manager he promised us a room upgrade next time. House wine good but expensive at £24 per bottle. Think there may have been a tunnel between the building where our room was and the main building, but we never found it.
The outdoor heated pool and hot tub.
Bugs in the bath tub on arrival. Location of room was poor and noisy so we couldn't sleep. Waited 90 minutes for a main course. Being charged 80 pounds for a spa treatment that we never had. Total lack of atmosphere. Very disappointing weekend overall.
Its stunning. The rooms, location and facilities are second to none.
